If you are like me, the moment Playground Games finally confirmed Japan as the setting for Forza Horizon 6, you probably had one thing at the top of your driving bucket list: drift missiles sliding sideways under a canopy of falling pink petals. Now that the game is out, it is safe to say that the map is absolutely stunning. But because Japan in Horizon 6 is massive and diverse, the absolute best sakura spots aren’t always plastered right on the main highway. Some of the most breathtaking views are hidden down narrow mountain passes, tucked into historic villages, or nestled right next to a player's house. Before you go hunting for them, there are two crucial rules you need to know. First, timing is everything. You need to make sure you are playing during the Spring season; otherwise, you won’t get that full, vibrant pink bloom. Second—and this is a hilarious but brilliant detail straight from the developers—do not try to smash through them. Out of respect for Japanese culture, the devs made the cherry blossom trees completely indestructible. If you try to use them as a guardrail while drifting, they will stop your car completely dead in its tracks. If you are looking to grab some incredible shots for Photo Mode or just want a scenic cruise, here are the top hidden cherry blossom gems you need to visit. If you have unlocked the Haus of Meeshie property, you actually have one of the most peaceful spots in the game right on your doorstep. Located in the rural outskirts, the dirt paths winding right outside Mei’s house are lined with cherry trees. It is a quiet, rural backdrop where you can just sit and watch the pink petals drift across the unpaved roads. The Timeless Streets of Narai-jukuFor a completely different vibe, head over to Narai-juku. This is a hidden historic town nestled away from the main highways, and it feels like stepping in a time machine. The developers did an incredible job blending ancient wooden architecture with perfectly placed cherry trees. The contrast of classic Japanese buildings against the soft pink petals has quickly made this a massive favorite for the Horizon photo community. 3. The Secret Trails of Takashiro Mountain PassIf you want a bit of a driving challenge with your scenery, head to the western side of the Takashiro region. Look for the white mountain road running directly east of the waterfall and shrine. Right near the car park, if you follow the gravel road, it opens up into a network of hidden trails completely framed by dense pink canopies. It is arguably one of the most atmospheric spots on the entire map for a slow, cinematic cruise. 4. The Grandeur of Hirosaki CastleIf "subtle" isn't what you are looking for and you want the most dramatic backdrop possible, Hirosaki Castle is where you need to go. This landmark features a stunning, traditional black-and-white castle surrounded by a massive moat. The entire area is packed with an incredibly dense concentration of sakura trees, reflecting beautifully off the water. It is easily one of the most iconic spots in the game. 5. Northern Ito Bay CoastLastly, if you want to mix ocean views with spring blooms, take a drive down to the northern half of the Ito region. Tucked away along the coast is a small, isolated fishing village. If you cruise down the quiet harbor street, you will find it beautifully lined with blooming cherry blossoms, offering a great contrast between the blue of the sea and the pink of the trees.
